You may have heard of the Vampire FaceLift™, a procedure that rejuvenates the facial skin and helps people achieve a more youthful appearance. Why is It Called a Vampire FaceLift™?
The client’s own blood is used as the rejuvenation kickstart. Only a small amount of blood is needed to perform this procedure. We simply draw the blood and spin it in a centrifuge to separate the red cells from the platelets and plasma. The platelets contain special growth factors, including certain proteins. After the gel is formulated from the PRP, it is injected into the areas where wrinkling or rough skin texture exists.
This introduction of concentrated platelets causes a reaction by the body. Since platelets form clots when bleeding occurs, the body senses that an injury site exists. Nutrients are rushed to the site, and new skin tissue creation accelerates beneath the existing epidermis. Injectable treatments like Restylane® or Juvederm® may be used in conjunction with the PRP, depending on the situation. Over the following months, newer, healthier, collagen-rich skin replaces the old skin.
